Bathroom

I suppose it is high time for a peek into a finished room in our new house, huh? Truth be told, I’ve been so busy homeschooling, starting up Brock Soccer Academy, and planning birthdays that most decoration came to a halt.

But no more! I’m back working on Zelie’s room, the dining room, and the living room. I’ll have living room done soon 🙂 until then here is a look at our bathroom.

It’s  important to note that I am a minimalist decorator. I truly believe in not having anything in your home that you do not find to be useful or beautiful. I aim to keep my space clean and un-clogged, particularly the bathroom that seems to attract so. many. THINGS. I’m not 100% where I’d like to be with the amount of possessions that we have, but I’m getting there.

Here is out bathroom. I'm so glad we only have one. We almost got a house with two but I can seriously barely keep one clean. Maybe when the kids are older and can help with cleaning, but even then, less is more :) I decided to keep the original paint color, which is why this room was done so quickly. I like that it is not stark white. It's a nice neutral color so the decorating theme can be change easily if I want.

I like to keep everything I can off the counter if at all possible. And yes, Im proud to say it does look like this 99% of the time. Like I said, the less thing, the less mess! Woot!

Buuuttt.. like I said I'm not there 100%, so of course we have bathroom necessities. However, everything has a place and a purpose. Those neat little hanging cups I got at Ikea. Love them! The really utilize all the open space under the sink.

Here is the other side. See the pretty floor of the cupboard? The first thing I did when we moved here was lay contact paper down in EVERY. SINGLE. cabinet, drawer and cupboard. It is one of the best choices I made because it was the best time to do it BEFORE everything was thrown in them. Haha!

Pretty contact paper and soap containers (containers were purposed from my wedding!)

My drawers. Yes, I'm selfish and have one of my own since I have more junk than Chris :/ The silver mirror, comb, and brush in the back were gifts (I think) from my great grandmother. Although I'm a little foggy on where exactly I got them, I know I've had them for forever.

PIctures of the kids in the tub at the same age (around their first Christmas). The basket has tub books (yes, I even have book for them to read in the tub. You can never have too many!) Also in the basket are their little rags. You might notice the toilet is labeled. I read that it encourages early literacy to label the prominent object in your home, where the toddler sees them everyday.

I'm big into command hooks. Hanging without damage? Yes, please!

Thought you might like a close up of the decoration on the counter top. This is a shell from our honeymoon in the Bahamas. It was the only thing we could really afford to bring back for just us. I hold it very dear.

This is a jewelry box from my sister-in-law, Anne. It is one of my very favorite possessions and is where I keep all my "fancy" jewelry (as in anything over 10 bucks. haha!) It seems to be the perfect companion to the conch shell.

Okay, that’s all for now! I have another post coming soon about a recent little family adventure. Then, after that I will be pretty swamped with birthdays so expect a short hiatus 🙂

Cheers!
